My Gym Vacation is Over

I'm finally cracking after 1.5 years of not going to the gym. Decided that I'm going back and am leaving to join one after I leave here in a few minutes.

It's the gym closest to the Target Center in downtown Minneapolis, where the Timberwolves play. Maybe I'll get lucky and see Wally Szczerbiak, the hottest MN Timberwolf ever. Although he just got traded, so I better go there a lot to catch my first real life glimpse of him.

My ten-year reunion is this summer and I want to look decent for it. Well, I couldn't care less about that really...I just want to get some energy back mostly. Have felt so lazy and pathetic lately. Would be nice to go to the lakes/pool this summer and feel good about myself too.

Wish me luck! God, I hope this dump doesn't have communal showers...

(And what's with my talking about professional sports two posts in a row?!)

Nothing new - still alive

Nothing exciting has happened since Jan. 6. Not one.

I went to a MN Wild (hockey) game last week in St. Paul with college friend Amanda. Her hubby works for the Wild. I had never been. It was actually fun, but I rediscovered my paralyzing fear of heights. He sat us in the very top section (actually they are good seats) at the goal in the first row. The stairs down are as steep as a ladder. I was literally paralyzed with fear. We had to move down to a lower section. I fell in love with one of the players but I can't remember who he is now. He had 2 goals. I was his good luck charm. We beat the Toronto Maple Leafs for the first time ever. Yay.

I hurt my foot at the bar 2.5 weeks ago. I kicked a bar stool (on accident). I think I bruised the bone. Somedays my co-worker calls me Gimpy b/c I'm still limping. Stupid bar stool in my way.

I signed up for Netflix. I have 31 selections in my queue (sp?) right now. All Elizabeth Taylor pictures. Kidding. Kind of.

There's a new guy who calls me a lot. The jury's still out, but I'm going to hang out with him, have cocktails and watch movies tomorrow night. He's 27.

I'm going to Jamaica in April for my college friends' wedding. I introduced them to each other in 1998.

I need a drink. Time for Boozie Hour, kids.

I can read, Mama, I can...

Okay, you fuckers.

I'm still reading all of your blogs. I am.

I'm still in my blog funk. So, don't be...offended. I love all your comments and I can guarantee that I'll be back to my old self one day. Once work less resembles a "sitting at computer / mindless" all day hell.

I love your entries -- I read them.

My Sissies are gonna bitch...

Alright.

My asshole dad died in 1997. Since then, my awesome Mother hasn't had even one date.

A Readers' Digest version of her:
Popular in h.s., a Queen....met the cute jock when she was a freshman in 1955. Got pregnant in 1958. Got married in 1958. Had first baby in 1958. Proceeded to have 6 kids with him. Divorced in 1976. Met my dad in 1976 (he saw her POW bracelet for Vietnam Vets and she was vastly unhappy -- he was a small town football coach afterall). Got pregnant and married again. Had my bro in '76, then me in '78. Got beat up for the next 19 years. He died of Agent Orange (from Vietnam) in 1997.

She hasn't dated since.

All she wants now is nice, good looking, older man (62-70), who knows how to Jitterbug and play bridge.

So, I created a Match.Com profile for her.

(Insert Brooklyn Accent)

Is that so wrong??

I want her to know that she's still very pretty and that classy men will still find her to be worthwhile. I tell her, "get out of that small town," but she's a small town kinda gal....

Whatever...I'll let you know what/whom develops....

Caddie Driver No More

I *did* go and get a new car on Thursday night. I'm leasing a 2006 VW Jetta. It's black with black leather interior. Me likes!! I already put 500 miles on it this weekend. You see, I drove all over the place just to get both my Cadillac and the Jetta switched. Then high school friend Crystal, who now lives in Boulder, CO, came for a visit on Friday night and I wound up giving her a ride back to our hometown of Dodge Center on Saturday morning. Did some running the rest of the weekend and 500 miles later, here I am. Still have to drive to my Mom's, more than an hour away, to get the Cadillac back in her driveway.

Normally I hardly ever drive, so I'm not worried about going over the 39,000 miles in 39 months.

I got the automatic transmission, so didn't get the new car with $0 down, but only had to pay for the license plates, so it was still cheap.

Yay for getting a new car for the first time since 2000!!!

Here it is:
