Lootin' Losers
I can't believe all the people taking advantage of the Hurricane Katrina effects in New Orleans by breaking into stores/businesses and stealing - like it all belongs to them simply because of the emergency situation.
In an AP article, one said, "To be honest with you, people who are oppressed all their lives, man, it's an opportunity to get back at society."
Ummm....get back at people who worked hard to build a business and could possibly provide you with a job?? You need to get back at these store owners??
Whatever.
I could see taking some food to get by if your home had been ruined, but these people are taking beer, jewelry and jeans.
Get a life. Losers.

These people are like crocodiles and other scavengers that will feed on the dead city. They can't be shot because there are too many bodies already floating in the streets. The priority should be in getting everyone out. Then see what can be salvaged. If anything.

Hello Kiddo78
People are people - and I'm getting xanophobic! There's something certain about catastrophes - it brings out the best in some, and the worst in most. I've myself never understood the pleasure of destroying for others, but then again, I was raised properly...
It seems these people crawl up from in under their stone, or where the hell they spend the rest of their lives, and just get a fit every time something bad has happened. Instead of actually putting yourself in somebody elses shoes, realize that when you are about to loose everything, you might need a bright spot in your life, and just let things be, they see this as the best opportunity to "get back at society"... the "get back at society" means "gets things I don't deserve because I haven't earned enough money to buy it". But that's just my standpoint...
Oh, and on a side one - your 7 things... visit Europe... skip Sweden. It's gravely overrated, and the people are like the weather: 11 months and 29 days of blasting cold winter, and the people are only defrosted by alcohol. Then again, the rest of the year is wonderful, rainy summer... :)
Hope you had a nice dinner. Dining alone isn't that bad. I often do it just to get people thinking why I can't get a date... :)
Take care

The thing that killed me was watching people walk out of stores with TVs. Where are you going to plug it in?! Just sickning.

I totally agree. I just saw coverage of a woman taking pictures of her kids while they were looting. They too were stealing electronics. What a wholesome family activity.

I agree. Let's make this whole experience worse and go lootin' for things we can't even use. Not that I condone stealing at all, but these jokers are even logical. Sheesh.

Disasters like this bring out the best in people. Unfortunately they also bring out the worst. It's going to take months to get things back together and even then it's never going to be the same.

The worst thing I saw was on MSNBC where two female police officers had a cart and they were looting. The entire thing is heartbreaking.
I can't imagine how they will ever begin to recover. I wonder, will the citizens of the world come to our ?

I like Ang, saw the two femaile police officers looting a Wal-Mart type place, they had a shopping cart, and just walked around grabbing whatever they pleased. It was horrible.
I can not belive that now they are shooting at military helicoptors, and they (gangs) stopped a supply truck carrying food and water for relief at a hospital. Do those 5 or 6 thugs really need a full truckload of food for themselves?

It's possible the cops were commandeering supplies rather than looting. Gov't agencies & police have broad authority to do so in a disater situation. The cops commandeered a lot from an Office Depot, too.
It's sad- the looting of things they can't need. But I understand the looting of food & clothes. They're in survival mode & I can't say how I would act in the same situation. They don't need TVs, but they need food & clothes. So, the ones taking essentials I sympathize with.
