That's what we're known for??

Not too exciting, but the Minnesota quarter was released today...I had never seen it before. Apparently the rest of the country thinks the whole state is trees, lakes, fishing boats and loons (state bird)... I'll agree with the loons part to some extent. At least when it comes to the guys I meet. Now that's one looney bunch. Actually, the North Woods of Minnesota, depicted in the quarter, is pretty nice. Oh well, at least it's not just a big icicle, since most people think it's wintertime here year 'round.

  • The Oregon quarter was released today too. It's got Crater Lake on it, which I just saw for the first time last summer. Yeah, not all that exciting.

  • That is a familiar scene from Northern MN. But I'm not so sure I'm so excited that this is the best an artist could depict it.

  • Don't feel bad...our Indiana quarter has an Indy 500 car with the words "crossroads of America" on it. I think that means people race across our state in order to get to MN to go fishing and see loons.

  • It could be a lot worse--a picture of a bearded man in a flannel shirt saying, "Yah, there are some parts of Lake Superior that never thaw, don-tcha-know."

  • Funny, Kansas was just released this month too. It has a big ass buffalo and a sunflower. Can't get any worse than that.

  • Wisconsin's has a COW.
even worse than a snowflake or 10,000 lakes of loons.

  • Iowa's has a one-room schoolhouse. I guess I should be happy it wasn't just a big ear of corn.

  • "Now that's one looney bunch" mean you don't have woods and trees all around you? :)

  • I heard they were going to go for a picture of cub and a lady in stretch pants walking in and bunch of leathered men from the brass rail to show MN's diversity...Sorry I am in a goofy mood.

  • If you designed the quarter what would you put on it?

Even though I live in PA now, I still feel like I live in Jersey. If I designed the jersey quarter it would have a girl with big hair on it.
