Lord, Jesus, help me...

I get out of control while drinking. On weekends.

Should I check into the Bette Ford??

Tawk amonst y'selves....tawk....

  • If you head off to Bette Ford, will you check to see if there's a group discount. My liver was nodding in agreement at that post! Tx

  • Um, yeah. I can relate perhaps a little too much.

  • When I was a wee lad, I knew I had to take a break from drinking. After drinking 6 days a week for four years in the army (we took Mondays off) and then partying hard in college and the years after I reached my limit. One day my friends and I drank for free at a bar (a buddy was a bartender) for 7 hours straight and I didn't even get a buzz. I decided to cut down after that.

If you think you need to cut down--just slow it down. You don't have to be a complete teetotaler.

  • We live in the midwest we are supposed to get crazy drunk during the weekends, especially this time of the year, it's the only thing that will keep us warm.

  • When I was a teenager (last week) I used to party like a rock star. This continued through my thirties (also last week) until I just couldn't do it anymore. Now I find the total cut loose borderline blackout nights a lot more fun when they're few and far between. That doesn't mean I don't like a glass (or bottle) of wine from time to time. It just means that you'll slow down if you need or want to whether you like it or not.

  • So was this post and the previous post written while you were under the influence?
    Very strange...

I often think I should cut down on my partying. I guess I'm afraid of getting old. But I do still enjoy it, so it's all good!

  • The only time you get out of control, is when you hurt yourself, or others. OR, if you spend like $500 on a bar tab or something... that is a little out of control. Otherwise... live it up!

  • Matt S. is so very accurate...weekend benders are all we have here in the Midwest once the "cool spell" hits. I plan to blog about one particular lost weekend, several years ago, in a moment...

Since I am in "shiny, happy people mode" these days, I offer you this: you are a kind, fun person. Some of my most memorable belly laughs and day-brighteners have been the direct result of your wit...sober or buzzed. Do whatever wags your tail, Kiddo!!

  • My only advice: Don't drink and blog.
