Goodbye, Earl!

Of course, I am NOT a fan of spousal abuse (please refer to the After-School Special inspired by my own home life circa 1980s), but I self-depricatingly enjoy those lil' ol' gals singing about the demise of their friend's jerk husband. God, I wish I had some Jackie O. glasses at this point...

  • I don't like to admit I like any country music because planetdan mocks me incessantly, but... this is a funny song.

Any I think my favorite afterschool special was the one starring Val Kilmer & Michelle Pfeiffer. The whole episode you think Val ran over a friend when he drove drunk. But the shocking twist at the end is that his girlfriend Michelle Pfeiffer was the one driving. Quality dramas just doesn't get any better.

  • OMG - that's about the only After-School Special I remember! Except the one my Grandparents' neighbors were in as extras...there was a close-up of them too, so I felt like I knew famous people. Duh. And, yes, country music has got to go.

  • I remember an after-school where Scott Baio smoked dope and then nearly drowned his brother by accident in a lake by hitting him on the head with an oar. I also remember one where the girl from Grease 2 got caught shoplifting and went to jail. That one was awesome.

  • I'm not sure this was an after school special, but I think it was. Anyway, I love the one that starred Helen Hunt as a new girl at school. And she had to fight for her right to play as quarterback for the high school football team. And then she even won homecoming queen. Her boyfriend & her almost broke up because he couldn't deal with dating the QB. It was the best lame drama ever. And it was just on one of the Encore channels a month or so ago. I watched it, of course!

  • Ohhh yeah....I remember that movie. Who knew she'd go on to star in a really annoying TV show and win an Oscar for playing an equally-annoying lady...?? An annoying lady, who by the way, STOLE my name for a kid, Spencer. Only I wouldn't call him "Spence" or live with my mother and work as a waitress just to buy his damn medicine...
